We are three young dance artists exploring themes of perception, gender, and time. In Roots, each of us has taken on a different topic to explore and approach in our own specific way. We are coming together, as three individual human beings, to present ourselves to the city of Philadelphia.

AKA Performance is a new group of choreographers, performers and dance educators based in Philadelphia, PA. Recently after graduating from the University of the Arts, Alessandra Delle Grotti, Katrina Atkin, and Ann-Marie Gover created AKA with the intention of bringing their individual choreographic voices to the Philadelphia dance scene.
Due to the fact that AKA behaves as a collective, the three artists' unique approaches to dance and performance are allowed to grow separately and maintain a fierce individuality. Although the approaches and final products differ greatly, the main themes of the work from all three artists tend to revolve around similar relationships to ideas of reality, gender, time, and perception.
In Roots, each of us has taken on a different topic to explore and approach in our own individual ways. We are coming together, as three individual human beings, to present the way we think to the city of Philadelphia.
Join us in Philly PARD's beautiful atrium for a night of questions without answers, dancers without shoes, and tangled thoughts and tangled yarn.
