"An intimate, sincere and funny artistic calling card which tells us why he is who he is, and how he is where he is." Michael Seaver, Irish Times

///////

A leading figure of traditional Irish step dance, best known for his work in Riverdance, Colin Dunne was immersed in the frenetic world of competitive and showbiz “Irish” dance since his earliest childhood memories. In this multidisciplinary solo show that plunges the spectator into the interior world of the artist, Dunne integrates his virtuoso dance technique with electronic sound manipulation, archival film footage, and spoken word. Weaving storytelling and movement, Dunne chronicles his journey from child dance prodigy to Riverdance success to a man in search of his art.

Out of Time pares back the layers of self-conscious sophistication and overproduction that have pervaded the Irish dance tradition, to reveal the simplicity and purity of the dance form. Intimate and playful, the documentary-style performance is an unsentimental homage to Irish step dance and a bold investigation of Dunne’s personal and artistic relationship with the tradition that has shaped his life.
