Hackles by The Groundswell Players

By FringeArts (other events)

10 Dates Through Sep 16, 2012

How awkward it is to forget that Death is in the room. Then one evening, she takes your arm, walks you to the top of the stairs and shoves you. Join a new incarnation of The Groundswell Players, fresh from a year at Pig Iron’s School for Advanced Performance, as they hold Death’s feet to the fire.

The Groundswell Players is an experimental theatre company based in Philadelphia. We devise and perform theatre creations that exploit the comedic friction of grounded characters rubbing up against extraordinary circumstances. With artistic roots in the philosophy of long-form improv, Groundswell theatre is a formal and finely orchestrated extension of the raw and exciting discoveries that are born from spontaneous inspiration. Our work engages a highly collaborative, actor-driven approach in which several performers, writers, and artists work together in a rehearsal room exploring everything from current and historical events to intractable philosophical questions via performance.
