MJ and JT are two theater creators recently birthed from the Yale School of Drama who have relocated to the beautiful city of Philadelphia. We are committed to creating political, satirical, entertaining works of live performance that happen LIVE IN FRONT OF YOU.
Recently, we got into webseries, specifically queer webseries. And in watching a bunch of queer webseries, we saw a lot of white men in Brooklyn checking their iPhones.
It's important to us to create work about the world we actually see around us. In the works of queer cultural entertainment we've been watching lately, we haven't been seeing a world that looks like ours. We are making GAYZE: A REAL LIVE WEBSERIES to contribute to the representation of queer lives in art and theater and to express our vision of the world in which we live.
We are embracing an absurd and site-specific approach to telling our stories; an approach we didn't have opportunities to utilize in our training together.
We're committed to exploring ways of working and forms of performance that foster community among queer artists and queer audiences more sustainably than the regional theater model in which we were trained.
We're also interested in creating a fun, productive, and safe queer social space around our work.
We also want to establish ourselves as badass working artists in the beautiful city of Philadelphia.
