New Street Dance Group presents ChORDED Motion, a concert of dance and music strung together by choreographers Krista Armbruster and Shannon Dooling. Through movement, design, music, and spoken word, this collection of short works explores ties that bind, tangles that entrap, a host of "string theories", and the intersection of literal and figurative cords, chords, and corresponding motion. The concert features performers from New Street Dance Group, DeSales University, and a string quartet led by director Jonathan Cain, cello.

New Street Dance Group (NSDG) has been bringing our dynamic form of collaborative dance and hybrid dance-theatre to audiences throughout Philadelphia and DC metro areas since 2009. Collaboration, authenticity, and artistry are the hallmarks of the group, which is co-directed by former college roommates Shannon Dooling and Krista Armbruster. Our performances often cross disciplines, incorporating live and original music, spoken word, and multi-media, though we also value the power of pure movement. By encouraging honest collaboration across artistic genres, authentic movement, and truthful performance, We try to create holistic artistic experiences that are at once thought-provoking, challenging, uplifting, and fun.

We have performed in showcases and festivals throughout Pennsylvania (Philly Fringe Festival, Inhale Performance Series, Lehigh Valley Dance Exchange), in addition to self-producing four annual spring concerts in Bethlehem, PA. In 2013, we were commissioned to create a new work for students at DeSales University. With collaborators now living in the DC Metro area and Connecticut, we are actively expanding our performing radius. In January 2013, we made our full-company DC area debut at the Public Playhouse in Cheverly, MD; in February we were presented by the College Park Arts Exchange at the Old Parish House in College Park, MD, and in April we premiered in Brooklyn at the Williamburg Art NeXus’s WAXworks Showcase.
