ABOUT ABOUT

In our first production, MinorityLand, Power Street ensemble tackles what it means to be a minority and what it means to be a community. When the local university begins buying up houses in an integrated black and Latino community, residents are pushed out and the fabric of the community is ripped.

Power Street is a fresh theater company composed of young theater makers. Our mission is to create new work that explores the inner city experience in Philadelphia and other urban environments a catalyst for cultural outreach and understanding. We are a theater for our existing world as we see it, producing new and contemporary plays that explore the social, political and cultural issues within our communities.

Our goal is to create great art by exposing our stories to those communities within the Philadelphia area, whom are familiar, and more importantly, unfamiliar with Theater. We want to celebrate and promote the art of Theater, through cultural diversity. The importance of Power Street Theater is that it holds a strong vision of hope for a better world where peace and justice should be a living reality instead of a rapidly fading dream.
